Right, it’s 5:30. We’ll call the Man and Puck School District to order today is October 20th, 2025, it’s a September on here, that’s why, um so we’ll call it the order first meeting, first item on the agenda’s Pledge of Allegiance. Please join me. America. to the republic for which it seems one nation under God indivisible liberty and justice are all All right, thank you, everybody. Uh, Next item on the agenda’s approval of the agenda. Um, I’m just going to ask that we move one thing, the high school band trip from the administratorsport down to new business in relation to it, uh, because I, I’d just as soon I’d like us to act on that rather than just an update. Any other changes to the report. to the agenda. If not, were the wishes of the board. agenda. All right, and that’s as amended,? All right, we have a motion 2nd. Any further discussions? Seeing and hearing none, please go roll. Yes. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. yes, yes Shenando yes yes. Next item on the agenda is public communications. Anybody in the audience wish to address the board? Uh, the only person shaking her head no, so we’ll just move on to the administrator’s report. Uh, the first thing is the high school demo update, Mr. Legacy. Yeah, just a quick update for you. Uh, it was asbestos abatement contractors are currently in the building. Uh, they’ve been there for 2 weeks now working, uh, very labor-intensive process. They’ve brought in another crew to, to kind of get back on schedule. Um, they’re anticipated to be working in there through about Thanksgiving. They’ll be finished up, uh, towards the end of November. Um, we had a pre-bid walkthrough for the main demolition of the building, the asbestos contractors were part of that, so they’ll coordinate if those schedules do overlap at all, um, and our bid opening for demo is this Friday at 2 o’clock. Um, I do not anticipate a special board meeting. Uh, we can wait to approve those bids at our regular November 3rd meeting. Mr. Legacy, when is the anticipated start date of that contract. After, uh, December 1st, is that kind of where it’s set up or you know, we had a number of bidders. I think they kind of vary based on what they have available for for crews, um, and I think there’s quite a bit of work that they need to do ahead of time for logistics, uh, making sure they have all their permits in place. They’ve coordinated with the landfill. I would hope they’re started yet in November, but I think there’s a lot of planning to go. Any further questions? Thank you. Next item is uh September 2025 free and reduced lunches, Dr Bitz, correct on page 3, your packet is our free reduced lunch numbers for September, and we are up significantly from last year. Um, September’s always our high month because if you ended the previous year on free and reduced lunches, and you don’t fill out the paperwork you carry over for the first month of the year. So we have those students, we, we generally take a dip then in October because somebody ’ s situation changed and they no longer qualify, um, but you can see our district average is 38.49%, which is I would say maybe 5% higher than we were last year, um, so we, we have gone up, um and every building did, um, actually Cusster is now our uh highest highest count of free reduced lunches. Um, and if you remember it, we have those 4 elementary schools, uh, Lakewood, Roosevelt, Custer, and Mary Stark that get free lunch and free breakfast. but nothing that needs to be done here, just something for you to look at and we’ll continue to monitor this. Um, I will tell you that Joel Meyer, our child nutrition director, will be here giving you an update on our program, um, at our next meeting. go ahead I was just gonna add they have redone our Title I like formula a little bit. It used to be just free and reduced lunch we had to use. Now they use like our census poverty data. So as a community, what is our poverty data? So looking at more that district average, we can still choose to, as we move forward, use free and reduced lunch for how we allocate, but they have as the state shifted. We did not see a huge impact in that, Mandan, it’s, it’s pretty even. Some communities if you hear, have lost a lot of Title I funding or gained a lot of Tit le I funding. It’s because of some of those changes. If they have a lot of open enrollment students to other districts they might have seen, um, that they have a lot of it because their community poverty rates high, but those students aren’t there, so they’re trying to navigating how do we get money to we students are. So if you hear that, that was the change. We’ve stayed pretty level with that though. Good. Questions on that one All right. Super tend evaluation, seems like we just did this twice a year. Um, Amy is going to email the evaluation formal to all of you uh tomorrow. Um, I would ask that you have it back by October 30th, so we can deal with it at our November 3rd meeting by law we need to have it done by November 15th. So, right. OK. So when you see that, uh, please get it in so we get taken care of, yep. FYI, if just as a note, if we reply to that, it’s not going back to Amy, it’s, it’s going back to all of us. So Amy doesn’t get some of our stuff. Just FYI don’t reply back to that. Yep. Send it to Amy, don’t just attach it and reply. Yes it’s just going back to us and she never gets them. She doesn’t get it, but we all get to see your evaluation. That’s supposed to be a secret thing, so please make sure you send it directly to Amy in regard to it and if you need a num or email, it should be on there usually is, so it’ll come from her, so just send it back to her, not to school board. Yeah. because just so you know, I mean our school board one, when you send it to the school board, it comes to all the, any email goes out to everybody in relation to that. So, so everybody stays informed. All right, then well, anything else you wanna add there? Uh, then we’ll move to the consent agenda on the consent agenda, um, review and consider approval of previous board minutes from August 6, 2025. Review and consider approval of September 2025 bills, review and consider approval of September 2025 revenues and expenditures. Review and consider approval of a second and final reading of the following policies, ABAD virtual schools, BCBA public participation at board meetings, IDCH Independent Study and Correspondence courses, IHFR graduation requirements, GABE, human trafficking and exploitation, prevention and awareness education, GAN National Board certification, GBB. licensed personnel positions, recruiting and hiring GBC recruitment, hiring, and background checks for classified staff. Item E, review and consider a second and final reading to delete the following policy GBBCD licensed personnel positions, recruitment and hiring. What are the wishes of the board on the consent agenda. I would move that we approve the consent agenda. All right, we have a motion. We have a second. We have a motion in a second, please, Carroll. Yes. Yes. Peters yes. Yes. Yes, yes Uh, we have no unfinished business. We’ll go to new business review and consider approving the follow the following certified teacher resignation. Yes, uh, Rob Birdhorse, who teaches our Native American studies and social studies classes at the high school, um, got an appointment by the new Standing Rock Tribal chair, um, and he’s going to has an opportunity to go down to Sitting Bull College and the committee met that includes Tom Peters, uh, Chelsea Bitner from MEA and Dr Bitz here to discuss and um are recommending waiving the liquidated damages. We do have a plan in place. We’re looking at a long-term sub with potentially, um, a non-renewing contract the second half of the year until we can advertise for that. And Travis Albers, who is our Native American family liaison is going to help with the Native American studies portion of it to whoever we get in there. So, well, we’ll miss Rob tremendously. I think we have a nice plan moving forward. So we would recommend that you accept his re resignation. All right, what are the wishes of the board? I would move that we accept the resignation of Rod. Rob Birdhouse bird horse. I always have called him that, but I would ask that we include waiving the liquidated damages. Yes All right, so the motion is, uh, that we consider approval, the certified teacher resignation for Rob Berthouse and Wave liquidated damages is what you said, right? Yes, of course, said it. following, following the lead over here. All right, Do we have a second? We have a motion to second. Any further discussion? Rob, um, years of service. He was a very important part of my children’s um education at Man Dan and, um, he will be greatly missed. He was, he’s really made a difference All right Any other No, please go roll Yes, yes. Yes Peters. Yesanan Yes And Mr. uh Birdhouse, I’m sorry, I made your name wrong instead of Bird Hustle. Sorry about that. I think I’ve been about 3 times already. All right, uh, review and consider approve the following part-time teaching contract for Brianna Thomas, uh, Title One teacher at Saint Joe’s. Yes, Saint Joe’s this year, uh, has, we have an allocation for Title funding there. They had not elected to take services in the past, and they chose to this year. Brianna was an instructional coach for us, um, and actually resigned last year to do some different things and has been subbing a lot and is interested in in doing this for us. So she is just going to work one day a week with Saint Joe’s, uh, delivering title services. So we’d recommend that you, uh, approve her contract. All right. We are the wishes of the board? I’ll move to approve, Brianna Thompson’s, um, part-time teaching contract for St. Jos. All right, we have a motion. We have a second, and we have a second. Any further discussion? Seeing and hearing them, please, Garro. Yes. Yes. Yes Peters, yes, yes. Yes, uh, Next item, review and consider approval of open enrollment applications seeking a deadline waiver. Yes, we’d recommend approval of this one. It’s a kiddo who currently goes to Fort Lincoln. They’ve moved now to Bismarck, and they would like to continue to attend at Fort Lincoln. and it’s 2 students, right? Yes. What are the wishes of the board I would move that we approve the open open enrollment application. of both We have a motion. We have a second. 2nd, I have a motion in a second. Any further discussion? Seeing and hearing them, please call roll. Yes, yes, yes Peters, yes.annando yes. Yes. Next item on the agenda, which we moved from the administrator’s report down here to new businesses, high school band trip. Yeah, um, in your packet, I think I have 4 pages, but it’s, it starts out with an email to from John Bauman. Um, they’ve been invited, um, to go to London next January to be part of the New Year’s E New Year’s Day parade in London. Um, our band has been, they’ve been to Dublin, they’ve been to Hawaii, uh, I think they take a trip every other year, um, we do not use public funds. The ban boosters support them. They raise dollars, um because of this trip, I think maximum they’d miss one school day, assuming all the flights go like they should, um. they’ve done our band boosters and our band teachers that have done a great job of organizing these trips. I feel the first time they asked to go to Dublin, I was a little nervous. And because things have gone so well in Hawaii and Dublin, um, I guess I feel a little better about letting them go to London, and I don’t have as many concerns. Um, I can try to answer any questions you have, but it would be my recommendation that we approve this trip and I’ll let them start planning. And Dr Bitz, this is not mandatory for any band members. This is all optional. So if somebody doesn’t feel comfortable, they just don’t have to allow the student or the student choses not to go. That would be their choice, right? That is correct. I just want to make sure that everybody’s aware of that. Any other questions on this one? Anybody have any questions? What is the board’s uh feelings on this one then I would move that we uh approve their, their trip by supporting it by because do we actually have to approve it? I think the what we’re looking for here is really a motion that the board is OK with them going over internationally in relation to it for the band trip. I think is really what we’re looking for here. So I’ve moved our support by doing that. OK, I would. move then that we support that that they are going over to London. We have a motion. We have a second. We have a second. Any further discussion. I think it’s a great opportunity and they represent us well and by reading through the stuff here, I mean, there’s a lot, millions of people that see it. It’s a great opportunity. So. please carro Yes, yes. Yes. Peters yes.ananan yes, yes, uh, next item is future meeting dates, October 27th, a student achievement, 5 p.m. Brave Center, October 27th. Policy and Personnel 5 p.m. Braves Center, October 27th, Facility and finance, 5 p.m. Braves Center. uh, November 3rd, regular school board meeting at 5:30.
